Oxford Bus Company have expanded their PickMeUp service to Jericho and North Oxford, following the hard work of local Liberal Democrat councillors.
The on-demand bus service can pick you up and drop you off wherever you need to be in their zone, which now covers most of the city.
Commenting, local campaigner Conor McKenzie said: “This is fantastic news for Jericho, especially for its elderly residents who particularly benefited from the Number 17 bus service that went between the City Centre, Jericho and Summertown.
“This service had been very important for their freedom to get around more easily and helping to prevent social isolation.
“It is also an ideal service to take residents to the JR Hospital, Blackbird Leys leisure centre, Oxford Science Park and a lot of other places.
“I really hope that this extended service goes some way to help encourage a drop in car use, making it easier to travel across the city where direct bus links don't currently exist.”
